Transmission Park Manual Release Cable: Removal

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
If equipped, remove the retainers and splash shield.

Disconnect the cable from the manual lever and bracket.

NOTE: If done correctly the panel will swing downward.

Carefully open the hinged access cover using a plastic type wedge or pry tool at the upper edges of the panel.

Remove the bolts and the access panel.

Release the clips and remove the lower steering column trim panel.

1. Remove the lever assembly bolts.
2. Remove the push pins and position the lever assembly aside.

Vehicles with Floor Console
Release the clips and remove the floor console lower RH trim panel.

Release the clips and remove the floor console upper RH trim panel.

Remove the screw, release the clips and remove the floor console lower LH trim panel.

Disconnect the LH electrical connector.

1. Remove the floor console bolts.
2. Position the floor console towards the rear of the vehicle.

Vehicles Without Floor Console
Remove the bolt, release the clips and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel.

1. Disconnect the cable retaining clip push pin from behind the panel.
2. Disconnect the gromet and remove the cable.
