Transmission Park by Wire Manual Release

Activation 

  1. NOTE: If the vehicle has a discharged battery, an external power source is required.

    Apply the parking brake.

  2. Release the clips and open the access panel.

  3. Release the tether from the retention tab.

  4. NOTE: Do not pull handle while engine is running or damage can occur.
    NOTE: The brakes must be applied from the driver's seat while releasing the vehicle from park.
    NOTE: When the vehicle is manually removed from park a message will appear on the instrument cluster.

    While applying the brakes, pull the tether straight out towards the driver's seat until the handle locks into park override.

Deactivation 

  1. NOTE: The brakes must be applied from the driver's seat while returning the vehicle to normal operating mode.

    While applying the brakes, the lever will move forward allowing the vehicle to go back into the P position.

    1. Using the tether, pull the handle towards the driver seat until you hit a hard stop.
    2. Pull the lever toward the floor until it hits a hard stop,
    3. NOTE: Maintain tension on the tether until the lever reaches the stowed position.

      Allow the manual park release cable lever to to return to the stowed position.

  2. With your foot fully applied on the brake pedal, start your vehicle. Confirm that your vehicle is in the park (P) position and that the instrument cluster indicates park (P).
  3. Attach the tether to the retention tab.

  4. Push the clips in to close the access panel.
