Inverter System Controller [SOBDMC]: Removal

  1. WARNING: Disconnect the 12 volt battery before servicing the direct current to alternating current (DC-AC) inverter or alternating current (AC) powerpoint to prevent the risk of high voltage shock. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
    NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
    NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Download the inverter system controller [SOBDMC] information to the diagnostic tool using the Programmable Modules Installation routine. Refer to: Module Programming . Use the General Equipment: Ford Diagnostic Equipment

  2. De-energize the high voltage system. Refer to: High Voltage System De-energizing .
  3. Disconnect the battery negative terminal. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  4. Remove the RH air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe RH .
  5. Remove the RH charge air cooler (CAC) intake pipe. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Intake Pipe .
  6. Remove the bolts and disconnect the high voltage cable, and position harness aside.

    Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

  7. Remove the HV DC bolt, detach the HV retainer from bracket, and position harness aside.

    Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

  8. Disconnect the electrical connector and harness retainer.

  9. NOTE: Be prepared to catch escaping coolant.

    1. Clamp off the coolant tubes. Use the General Equipment: Locking Pliers.
    2. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the inverter system controller [SOBDMC]. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

  10. Remove the bolts and the inverter system controller [SOBDMC].

    Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)
