DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition SOBDMC P0A47:00 Drive Motor "B" Position Sensor Circuit Low: No Sub Type Information This DTC sets when a resolver wiring fault is detected. SOBDMC P0C64:00 Generator Position Sensor Circuit A: No Sub Type Information This DTC sets when a generator resolver failure is detected. Possible Sources
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Front Module (Electric Motor)
- Inverter System Controller (ISC)
- V1 CHECK FOR INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE)NOTE: Wiring overlays or repinning of circuits are NOT appropriate for DTCs P0A47 or P0C64 due to risk of hardware damage.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the Inverter System Controller (ISC) self-test.
Is DTC P0634:00, P0C65:00 or P0C6A:00 present in the Inverter System Controller (ISC)?
Yes For P0634:00 GO to Pinpoint Test K For P0C65:00 GO to Pinpoint Test AH For P0C6A:00 GO to Pinpoint Test AN No GO to V2 - V2 CHECK THE INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) CALIBRATION LEVEL
- Verify the Inverter System Controller (ISC) is at the latest calibration level.
Is the Inverter System Controller (ISC) at the latest calibration level?
Yes GO to V3 No UPDATE the Inverter System Controller (ISC) to the latest calibration level. - V3 VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE LOW VOLTAGE SYSTEM
- Ignition OFF.
- Remove the high voltage traction battery service disconnect plug.
- Visually inspect the low voltage cables between the Inverter System Controller (ISC) and the electric motor.
- Make sure all the low voltage connectors are correctly and securely connected.
- Examine all the low voltage cables and connectors for damaged, burned or overheated insulation and loose or broken connections.
Is a concern present?
Yes REPAIR as necessary. CLEAR the DTCs and REPEAT the self-test. No GO to V4 - V4 CHECK FOR INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Ignition ON.
- Clear the Inverter System Controller (ISC) DTCs.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, run the Inverter System Controller (ISC) self-test.
Are DTCs P0634, P0A4D, P0C5A, P0C5C, P0C5D, P0C5F, P0C61, P0C62, P0C66, P0C67, P0C6A, P0C6B, or P0C6C present?
Yes DIAGNOSE these Inverter System Controller (ISC) DTCs first. REFER to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart . No GO to V5 - V5 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR SPEED RESOLVER RESISTANCES
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect Transmission Sensor Speed Resolver C1280.
- Measure and record:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1280 pin 3, component side C1280 pin 4, component side
Is the resistance between 8 and 18 ohms?
Yes GO to V6 No INSTALL a new electric motor. REFER to: Hybrid Drive Unit . CLEAR the Inverter System Controller (ISC) DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. - V6 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR SPEED RESOLVER RESISTANCES
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect Transmission Sensor Speed Resolver C1280.
- Measure and record:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1280 pin 2, component side C1280 pin 6, component side
Is the resistance between 32 and 42 ohms?
Yes GO to V7 No INSTALL a new electric motor. REFER to: Hybrid Drive Unit . CLEAR the Inverter System Controller (ISC) DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. - V7 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR SPEED RESOLVER RESISTANCES
- Measure and record:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1280 pin 1, component side C1280 pin 5, component side
Is the resistance between 27 and 37 ohms?
Yes GO to V8 No INSTALL a new electric motor. REFER to: Hybrid Drive Unit . CLEAR the Inverter System Controller (ISC) DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. - Measure and record:
- V8 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR SPEED RESOLVER SENSORS SHORTED TOGETHER
- Measure and record:

Are the resistances greater than 10K ohms?
Yes GO to V9 No INSTALL a new electric motor. REFER to: Hybrid Drive Unit . CLEAR the Inverter System Controller (ISC) DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. - Measure and record:
- V9 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR SPEED RESOLVER SENSOR FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure and record:

Are the resistances greater than 10K ohms?
Yes GO to V10 No INSTALL a new electric motor. REFER to: Hybrid Drive Unit . CLEAR the Inverter System Controller (ISC) DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. - Measure and record:
- V10 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR SPEED RESOLVER CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect Inverter System Controller (ISC) C1458A.
- Measure and record:

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to V11 No REPLACE the harness. CLEAR the DTCs and REPEAT the self-test. - V11 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR SPEED RESOLVER CIRCUITS SHORTED TOGETHER
- Measure and record:

Are the resistances greater than 10K ohms?
Yes GO to V12 No REPLACE the harness. CLEAR the DTCs and REPEAT the self-test. - Measure and record:
- V12 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR SPEED RESOLVER CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect Inverter System Controller (ISC) C1458A.
- Measure and record:

Are the resistances greater than 10K ohms?
Yes GO to V13 No REPLACE the harness. CLEAR the DTCs and REPEAT the self-test. - V13 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR SPEED RESOLVER CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition ON.
- Measure and record:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1280-3 Ground C1280-4 Ground C1280-1 Ground C1280-5 Ground C1280-2 Ground C1280-6 Ground
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPLACE the harness. CLEAR the DTCs and REPEAT the self-test. No GO to V14 - V14 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR SPEED RESOLVER CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO THE SHIELD
- Disconnect Inverter System Controller (ISC) C1458A.
- Measure and record:

Are the resistances greater than 10K ohms?
Yes GO to V15 No REPLACE the harness. CLEAR the DTCs and REPEAT the self-test. - V15 CHECK FOR CORRECT INVERTER SYSTEM CONTROLLER (ISC) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all Inverter System Controller (ISC) connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the Inverter System Controller (ISC) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Connect Transmission Sensor Speed Resolver C1280.
- Ignition ON.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait 120 seconds.
- Clear the Inverter System Controller (ISC) DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Start the engine.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, run the Inverter System Controller (ISC) self-test.
Is DTC P0A47 or P0C64 present?
Yes GO to V16 No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. - V16 CHECK FOR APPLICABLE SERVICE ARTICLES
- CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA.
Was a service article found?
Yes DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. No REFER to: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Input and Output Controls . Pinpoint Test Z.
