Pinpoint Test K: P062C

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The TCM and the ABS module communicate over HS-CAN1. Key information the ABS module sends to the TCM include vehicle speed and brake pedal position.

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
TCM P062C:00 Internal Control Module Vehicle Speed Performance: No Sub Type Information This DTC indicates a fault with the OSS sensor or VSS, or a correlation error between the two sensors.

    Possible Sources

    • OSS sensor
    • VSS
    • Incorrect gear ratio
    • ABS
    • TCM

  2. K1 VERIFY THE SCAN TOOL COMMUNICATES WITH THE ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using diagnostic scan tool, carry out the network test.

Did the ABS module pass the network test?

    Yes  GO to  K2
No  To diagnose the ABS module does not communicate with the scan tool, REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network .
  3. K2 CHECK THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the TCM self-test.

Are any OSS sensor diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) present?

Yes  RESOLVE all OSS sensor diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) first. REFER to the DTC Chart.
    No  GO to  K3
  4. K3 CHECK THE ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) MODULE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the ABS module self-test.

Are any VSS diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) present?

Yes  RESOLVE all VSS diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) first. REFER to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control .
    No  GO to  K4
  5. K4 VERIFY THE CORRECT AXLE GEAR RATIO IS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE

    • With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, rotate the driveshaft by hand and count the number of driveshaft rotations for 1 rotation of the tires. That is the gear ratio installed in the axle.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the gear ratio in the vehicle configuration.

Does the installed gear ratio match the configured gear ratio?

    Yes  GO to  K5
No  If available, UPDATE the vehicle configuration to match the installed gear ratio. Otherwise, INSTALL a new ring and pinion of the correct gear ratio. On 4WD vehicles, make sure the front and rear gear ratios match. REFER to: Differential Carrier . REFER to: Differential Carrier . REFER to: Differential Carrier .
  6. K5 RECHECK THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) FOR DTC P062C

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear all TCM diagnostic trouble codes.

    • Road test the vehicle.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the TCM self-test.

    Is DTC P062C present?

    Yes  GO to  K6
No  The concern is not present at this time. It might have been caused by high network traffic or by an intermittent fault.
  7. K6 CHECK FOR CORRECT TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect the TCM connector.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Connect the TCM connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, program the TCM with the latest calibration. REFER to: Module Programming .

    • Road test the vehicle.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, carry out the TCM self-test.

    Is DTC P062C present?

Yes  CHECK for an applicable TSB, GSB, SSM, or FSA. If a service bulletin exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow bulletin instructions. If none address this concern, INSTALL a new TCM. REFER to: Transmission Control Module (TCM) . CARRY OUT the transmission strategy download. REFER to: Transmission Strategy Download .
No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
