Rocker Arm RH: Installation

All rocker arms 

1. 1. NOTE: Lubricate the rocker arm and shaft with clean engine oil.

      Slide the rocker arms on the shaft.

   2. Install the rocker arm shaft plates.
   3. NOTE: The sleeves are captured on the bolts.

      Using a hammer, tap the bolts to seat the sleeve in the rocker arm shaft.

2. Lubricate the rocker arm shaft-to-valve tip and rocker arm-to-camshaft lobe contact area with clean engine oil prior to installation.

   Material: Motorcraft ® SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W30-QSP (WSS-M2C946-A)

3. Lubricate the all RH camshaft lopes with clean engine oil.

   Material: Motorcraft ® SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil / XO-5W30-QSP (WSS-M2C946-A)

   Exhaust rocker arms 

4. NOTE: Only rotate the engine in a clockwise direction.

   If needed, rotate the engine clockwise until the No. 1 cylinder camshaft exhaust lobe is positioned so the exhaust valve would be fully closed.

5. Install the RH exhaust rocker arm shaft assembly and the bolts finger-tight and tighten the bolts sequence shown, in 3 stages.

   Torque:

   Stage 1: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

   Stage 2: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

   Stage 3: 60 °

   Intake rocker arms 

6. NOTE: Only rotate the engine in a clockwise direction.

   If needed, rotate the engine clockwise until the No. 1 cylinder camshaft intake lobe is positioned at the bottom of its rotation so the intake valve would be fully closed.

7. Install the RH intake rocker arm shaft assembly and the bolts finger-tight and tighten the bolts sequence shown, in 3 stages.

   Torque:

   Stage 1: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

   Stage 2: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

   Stage 3: 60 °

8. Install the RH valve cover. Refer to: Valve Cover RH .
