Crankcase Vent Oil Separator: Removal

NOTE: The turbocharger compressor vanes can be damaged by even the smallest particles. When removing any turbocharger or engine air intake system component, ensure that no debris enters the system. Failure to do so may result in damage to the turbocharger.
  1. Remove the engine appearance cover.

  2. Remove the retainers and the engine appearance cover bracket.

    NOTE: The crankcase ventilation tube must be replaced whenever the crankcase vent oil separator is replaced. There is no need to disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube from the crankcase vent oil separator.
    NOTE: To avoid damaging the air cleaner outlet pipe, carefully break the crankcase ventilation tube quick connect retaining tabs with long nose pliers or a screwdriver as needed to remove the crankcase ventilation tube from the air cleaner outlet pipe.
    NOTE: The outer shell of the quick connect coupling must be broken in the indicated position.
  3. Using a screwdriver, separate, break and remove the outer shell of the crankcase ventilation tube quick connect fitting at the indicated position.

  4. NOTE: The crankcase ventilation tube quick connect fitting requires releasing of the spring lock tabs to be disconnected from the air cleaner outlet pipe.

    Disengage the metal spring lock retainer by releasing the spring arms, then disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube from the air cleaner outlet pipe.

  5. Remove and discard the crankcase vent oil separator and the crankcase ventilation tube.
