Pinpoint Test AZ: Exhaust Gas RECIRCULATION (EGR) Cooler System

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Regeneration may occur during normal operation. During regeneration, diagnostic procedures may display biased values. If a regeneration occurs during diagnostic procedures, allow the process to complete before continuing diagnostics.
NOTE: Refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagrams for schematic and connector information.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

Refer to the DTC Fault Trigger Conditions.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
PCM P2425:00 EGR Cooling Valve Control Circuit/Open: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects an exhaust gas recirculation cooler bypass valve circuit concern.
The presence of this DTC may indicate the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power. After repair, the vehicle may still display a system warning message. Drive the vehicle until the system warning message has cleared from the IPC message center.
PCM P2426:00 EGR Cooling Valve Control Circuit Low: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects an exhaust gas recirculation cooler bypass valve circuit short to ground concern.
The presence of this DTC may indicate the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power. After repair, the vehicle may still display a system warning message. Drive the vehicle until the system warning message has cleared from the IPC message center.
PCM P2427:00 EGR Cooling Valve Control Circuit High: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects an exhaust gas recirculation cooler bypass valve circuit short to voltage concern.
The presence of this DTC may indicate the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power. After repair, the vehicle may still display a system warning message. Drive the vehicle until the system warning message has cleared from the IPC message center.
PCM P2457:00 EGR Cooler "A" Efficiency Below Threshold: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the difference between the expected temperature of the exhaust gas and the actual exhaust gas recirculation temperature bank 1, sensor 2 value is greater than a calibrated amount.
The presence of this DTC may indicate the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power. After repair, the vehicle may still display a system warning message. Drive the vehicle until the system warning message has cleared from the IPC message center.
PCM P245B:00 EGR Cooler Bypass Control Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1): No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects an exhaust gas recirculation cooler bypass valve circuit concern.
The presence of this DTC may indicate the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power. After repair, the vehicle may still display a system warning message. Drive the vehicle until the system warning message has cleared from the IPC message center.
