Fuel Injectors LH: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. NOTE: Do not apply engine oil to the fuel injectors.
    NOTE: If a fuel injector is being reused, make sure to install the fuel injector in the original location.

    Install a new fuel injector sealing washer, a new O-ring seal, a new fuel injector return fuel O-ring and the new fuel injector hold down on the fuel injectors.

  2. NOTE: The PCM is programmed with an ICF code for each fuel injector. If a new fuel injector is installed record the new ICF code and cylinder location.
    NOTE: Tighten the injector clamp bolts in pairs, evenly to prevent the injector holder and nozzle from tilting.

    Install the fuel injectors, then install the fuel injector bolts finger tight.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  3. Install the new fuel injector supply tubes that were removed. Refer to: Fuel Injector Supply Tube LH .
  4. NOTE: This step is required only when a new fuel injector is being installed.
    NOTE: The PCM must be programmed with the proper fuel injector ICF codes.

    Using the scan tool, follow the on-screen instructions and program the PCM with the appropriate ICF code for any fuel injector that was replaced. Select Module Powertrain, select Service Functions, select Reset / Clear Specified Function, and select Injector Correction Factor, then follow the on-screen instructions displayed on the scan tool. Enter the new ICF code for the replacement injector(s).

  5. NOTE: This step is required only when a new fuel injector is being installed.
    NOTE: All PID may not be available on all vehicles.

    • Reset Minimum Fuel Mass Adaptation All Cylinders.

      Ignition ON, engine OFF.

      Using a scan tool, reset the min fuel mass adaptation - all cylinders. Refer to the scan tool manufacturer's manual for specific information on the scan tool setup, operation, and specific cables and adapters required.

      Using a scan tool, clear the continuous PCM DTC's and reset the emissions monitors information in the PCM.
