Pinpoint Test MC: Fuel Temperature Sensor

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Regeneration may occur during normal operation. During regeneration, diagnostic procedures may display biased values. If a regeneration occurs during diagnostic procedures, allow the process to complete before continuing diagnostics.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

Refer to the DTC Fault Trigger Conditions.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
PCM P0180:00 Fuel Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the difference between the fuel rail temperature sensor value and the PCM temperature value exceeds a calibrated value at engine start after a 6 hour soak.
Monitor the fuel rail temperature sensor voltage and temperature parameter identifications on a scan tool to isolate an open or short circuit from the system concern. Diagnose any fuel rail temperature sensor circuit related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) first.
PCM P0181:00 Fuel Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the difference between the two temperatures exceeds a calibrated value. The PCM monitors the difference between the fuel pressure and temperature sensor and the charge air cooler temperature sensor on engine start after a 6 hour soak.
Monitor the fuel rail temperature sensor voltage and temperature parameter identifications on a scan tool to isolate an open or short circuit from the system concern. Diagnose any fuel rail temperature sensor circuit related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) first.
PCM P0182:00 Fuel Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit Low: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the fuel rail temperature sensor voltage is lower than expected.
Monitor the fuel rail temperature sensor voltage and temperature parameter identifications on a scan tool to isolate an open or short circuit from the system concern.
PCM P0183:00 Fuel Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit High: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the fuel rail temperature sensor voltage is higher than expected.
Monitor the fuel rail temperature sensor voltage and temperature parameter identifications on a scan tool to isolate an open or short circuit from the system concern.
PCM P0184:00 Fuel Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit Intermittent: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the fuel rail temperature sensor signal to the PCM is intermittent or erratic.
PCM U0670:00 Lost Communication With Fuel Temperature Sensor "A": No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM no longer receives a signal from the fuel pressure and temperature sensor.
Check for other PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) or PCM related symptoms. Diagnose all other PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) or PCM related symptoms first.
