Pinpoint Test Ar: Misfire

WARNING: Contact with exposed fuel injector wiring, if energized, may result in electric shock. Use care when working on or around energized fuel injector wiring. Fuel injector wiring supplies high voltage to operate the fuel injectors. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
NOTE: Regeneration may occur during normal operation. During regeneration, diagnostic procedures may display biased values. If a regeneration occurs during diagnostic procedures, allow the process to complete before continuing diagnostics.
NOTE: Clearing the PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) erases any PCM recorded freeze frame data. Record any PCM freeze frame information before proceeding.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

Refer to the DTC Fault Trigger Conditions.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
PCM P0300:00 Random Misfire Detected: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects a full loss of combustion for a calibrated amount of time in greater than 1 cylinder.
Access the PCM and record the freeze frame data. The misfire freeze frame data may be used to determine the operating conditions when the misfire DTC was set.
PCM P0301:00 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected: No Sub Type Information Sets when the PCM detects the misfire event occurred in the cylinder due to a poor cylinder compression, fuel delivery concern or mechanical engine concern. The PCM continuously monitors the crankshaft speed and acceleration for each cylinder event. When the deceleration is detected the PCM uses the CKP and the CMP sensor signal information to determine which cylinder misfired.
