Thermostat Housing - Vehicles With: Dual Generators: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
Remove the intake manifold. Refer to: Intake Manifold .
NOTE: Cover the accessory drive belts to prevent coolant contamination of the belts.

Completely cover the accessory drive belts with waterproof plastic.
Release the clamp and disconnect the coolant hoses.
Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

Follow the directions to disconnect quick release coupling type 3. Disconnect the coolant tubes. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

Remove the bolts and the thermostat housing.
Torque

: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

Inspect the thermostat housing gaskets and replace if necessary.

- Remove the heater outlet tube.
- Inspect the O-ring seal and replace if necessary.
