Valve Cover LH - Vehicles With: Dual Generators: Installation

  1. NOTE: Installation of a new seal is only required if a damaged seal was removed.

    Using the special tools, install a new seal(s). Use Special Service Tool: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle., 205-142 (T80T-4000-J) Installer, Differential Bearing Cone.

    Using the special tools, install a new seal(s). Use Special Service Tool: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle., 303-1247 VCT Spark Plug Tube Seal Remover and Installer.

    Using the special tools, install a new seal(s). Use Special Service Tool: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle., 303-1247 VCT Spark Plug Tube Seal Remover and Installer.

  4. NOTE: This step is only necessary if the crankcase vent oil separator was removed.

    1. Lubricate the crankcase vent oil separator seals with clean engine oil.
    2. Install the crankcase vent oil separator and the bolts.

      Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

  5. Install a new gasket.

  6. NOTE: If the valve cover is not installed and the fasteners tightened within 5 minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned.

    Apply a 15 mm (0.59 in) drop of silicone gasket and sealant to the engine front cover-to-camshaft carrier joints.

    Material

    : Motorcraft® High Performance Engine RTV Silicone / TA-357 (WSE-M4G323-A6)

  7. Install the valve cover and tighten the bolts.

    Torque: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)

  8. Install the engine front cover bolts and tighten in sequence.

    Torque:Stage 1: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    Stage 2: 60 deg.

    • Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors.

    • Attach the wiring harness retainers.

  10. Install the following items:

    1. LH ignition coil-on-plugs. Refer to: Ignition Coil-On-Plug .
    2. Secondary generator. Refer to: Generator - 5.0L 32V Ti-VCT .

  11. Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.

    • Install the oil level indicator tube.

    • Install the nuts.

      Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

    • Install the oil level indicator.

  13. Follow directions to connect the quick release coupling type 3. Install the crankcase vent tube. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

  14. Install the following items:

    1. Air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
    2. Air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
