Rocker Arm: Removal

All rocker arms
NOTE:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
NOTE:
The engine is equipped with standard rocker arms/hydraulic lash adjusters and deactivating rocker arms/hydraulic lash adjusters. All components must be installed in their original positions or damage to the engine will occur.
- Remove the LH and/or RH camshaft and carrier assembly. Refer to: Camshaft and Carrier Assembly .
Standard rocker arm

- Remove the rocker arm and hydraulic lash adjuster assembly.
- Disengage the spring clip and separate the rocker arm and hydraulic lash adjuster.
Deactivating rocker arm

- Remove the rocker arm and hydraulic lash adjuster assembly.
- Disengage the spring clip and separate the rocker arm and hydraulic lash adjuster.
