Camshaft and Carrier Assembly: Installation

Left hand (LH) camshaft and carrier assembly 

1. Install a new gasket.

2. Make sure the timing mark is in the position shown.

3. Lubricate the camshafts with clean engine oil.

4. Lubricate the rocker arms with clean engine oil.

5. Install the camshaft and carrier assembly.

   Torque: Stage 1: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

   Stage 2: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

   Stage 3: 60 deg.

6. Inspect the O-ring seal. If damaged, discard the oil tube assembly.

7. Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seal and oil tube.

8. Install the oil tube and tighten the fasteners in sequence.

   Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

9. Inspect the seals. If damaged, discard the oil tube assembly.

10. Apply clean engine oil to the seals and oil tube.

11. Install the oil tube and tighten the fasteners in sequence.

    Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

12. If equipped with dual generators, install the LH valve cover. Refer to: Valve Cover LH - Vehicles With: Dual Generators .
13. Install the LH timing chain. Refer to: Timing Chain .

14. Install a new gasket.

18. Install the camshaft and carrier assembly.

    Torque: Stage 1: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

    Stage 2: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

    Stage 3: 60 deg.

19. Install the camshaft cap and bolts.

    Torque: Stage 1: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)

    Stage 2: 90 deg.

20. Inspect the O-ring seal. If damaged, discard the oil tube assembly.
