Oil Cooler: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
    • Remove the engine appearance cover retainers.

    • Release the engine appearance cover from the rear and remove the engine appearance cover.

  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe LH. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe LH .
  3. Remove and discard the engine oil filter. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment

  4. Disconnect the block heater cord.

    1. Using hose locking pliers, clamp the oil cooler coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Locking Pliers
    2. Using the hose clamp remover, remove the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  5. NOTE: If metal or foreign material is present in the oil cooler, mechanical concerns exist. To diagnose the mechanical concerns refer to ENGINE SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION .

    Remove the retainer and the oil cooler.
