Cooling Module: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. With the vehicle in N, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  3. Evacuate the A/C system. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging - Vehicles With: R1234YF Refrigerant . Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging - Vehicles With: R134A Refrigerant .
  4. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
  5. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner .
  6. Remove the pin-type retainers and the upper radiator air deflector.

  7. Remove the bolts and position the primary degas bottle aside.

    Torque

    : 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  8. Remove the bolt and position the primary degas bottle aside.

    Torque

    : 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  9. Disconnect the electrical connectors, detach the pin-type retainers and position the wiring harness aside.

  10. Remove both headlamp assemblies. Refer to: Headlamp Assembly .
  11. Remove the radiator grille. Refer to: Radiator Grille .
    • Detach the hood latch cable retainer.

    • Remove the bolts and position the hood latch assembly aside.

      Torque

      : 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)

  12. Remove the pin-type retainers and position the air deflector aside.

  13. Detach the battery cable pin-type retainer.

  14. Disconnect the electrical connector. Detach the wiring harness retainers. Position the wiring harness between the radiator and the radiator grille support.

  15. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

    Remove the condenser inlet and outlet nuts and disconnect the fittings.

    Torque

    :Stage 1: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

    Stage 2: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)

  16. Follow the directions to release quick release coupling type 3. Disconnect the coolant tube. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

  18. Release the clamps and disconnect the upper radiator and radiator-to-degas bottle hoses.

    Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  19. Detach the coolant hose retainer.

  21. Pull the lower radiator hose spring clip until the end of the clip is in the detent on the quick connect coupling and disconnect the lower radiator hose.

  22. Remove the pin-type retainer and the nut and position the washer bottle aside.

    Torque

    : 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  23. Remove the retainers and the cooling module.

    Torque

    : 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
