Port Injection Fuel Rail: Removal

- Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
- Remove the upper intake manifold. Refer to: Upper Intake Manifold .
- Disconnect the fuel rail fuel tube quick release couplings. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling

- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- If equipped, remove the right and left fuel rail insulators.
- Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.

- Use compressed air and remove any dirt or foreign material from the cylinder head, block and general surrounding area of the fuel rail and injectors.
- Remove the fuel rail bolts, then remove the fuel rail.

- Remove the fuel injector retaining clips.
- Remove the fuel injectors from the fuel rail.

NOTE: The upper and lower fuel injector O-ring seals are similar in appearance, but are not interchangeable, make note of the differences to aid in installation.
Remove and discard all of the fuel injector O-ring seals.
