Coolant Inlet Connector: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
  2. Remove the LH front wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
  3. Remove the LH fender splash shield. Refer to: Fender Splash Shield .
  4. Remove the generator. Refer to: Generator - 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel .
  5. Release the clamp and disconnect the lower radiator hose from coolant inlet tube.

    Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  6. Remove the coolant inlet tube bracket bolts and detach the block heater wiring harness retainers.

    Torque

    : 1: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

    2: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  7. Remove the coolant inlet tube.

  8. Inspect the O-ring seal and replace if necessary.

    • Detach the block heater cable retainer clip.

    • Release the clamp and disconnect the transmission cooler hose.

      Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  9. Detach the pin-type retainers and disconnect the coolant hose quick connect coupling.

  10. Remove the bolts and the heater outlet tube.

    Torque

    : 1: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

    2: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  11. Inspect the O-ring seal and replace if necessary.

  12. Release the clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses.

    Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

  13. Remove the bolts and the coolant bypass tube.

    Torque

    : 1: 71 lb.in (8 Nm) 2: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

  14. Inspect the O-ring seal and replace if necessary.

  15. Remove the bolts and the coolant inlet connector.

    Torque

    : 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
