Upper Intake Manifold: Installation

NOTE: If the engine is repaired or replaced because of upper engine failure, typically including valve or piston damage, check the intake manifold for metal debris. If metal debris is found, install a new intake manifold. Failure to follow these instructions can result in engine damage.
Inspect the intake manifold for damage or metal debris.
- Install the upper intake manifold and tighten the bolts in sequence shown.
Torque:Stage 1: 89 lb.in (10 Nm); Stage 2: 45 deg.
- Install the following items:
- Install the EGR valve outlet tube. Refer to: Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Outlet Tube .
- Install the differential pressure feedback EGR valve sensor. Refer to: Differential Pressure Feedback Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Sensor .
- Attach the coolant hose retainers to the intake manifold.
- Follow directions to connect the quick release coupling type 3. Connect the PCV tube quick connect coupling to the intake manifold. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling

- Install the upper intake manifold support bracket bolt.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
- Connect the throttle body electrical connector and attach wire harness retainer.
- Install the upper intake manifold support bracket bolt.

- Connect the MAP sensor electrical connector.
- Attach the wiring harness retainers.

- Position and attach the EVAP canister purge valve.
- Attach the EVAP canister purge valve tube retainers.
- Follow directions to connect the quick release coupling type 17. Connect the EVAP canister purge valve tube quick connect coupling to the intake manifold. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Install the air cleaner outlet pipe. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe .
- Road test the vehicle.
