Engine Mount LH: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

4x2/4x4 

NOTE: If removed, the following 4 steps are to install the LH engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket.
    • Clean the engine mount-to-cylinder block mating surfaces of any dirt or foreign material prior to installation.

    • Install the LH engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket and install the bolts.

      Torque: 55 lb.ft (75 Nm)

  1. Attach the generator wiring harness retainer to the lower LH side of the engine block.

  2. Attach the generator wiring harness to the engine front cover.

  3. Attach the generator wiring harness retainer to the oil filter adapter.

  4. NOTE: Replace the nut plate with part number W716699-S439.

    If removed, install a new engine mount-to-frame nut plate.

    • Clean the engine mount-to-frame mating surfaces of any dirt or foreign material prior to installation.

    • Position the LH engine mount and hand start the new engine mount-to-frame bolts.

    • Do not torque at this time.

    • Using the adjustable stand, lower the engine to the installed position. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

    • Remove the stand.

  5. Install the new LH engine mount through bolt finger tight.

  6. Position the stabilizer bar and install the new nuts.

    Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)

  7. Position the adjustable stand and raise the front axle carrier into position. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

  8. NOTE: It may be necessary to reposition the axle assembly to prevent interference with the steering components when installing the bolt.

    Install the new upper front axle carrier mounting bushing nut and the bolt finger tight.

  10. Install the new lower front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  11. Tighten the axle shaft housing carrier bushing bolt.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  12. Tighten the upper front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  13. Remove the adjustable stand. Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

  14. Install the steering gear boot.

    1. Position back the steering column shaft U-joint to the steering gear.
    2. WARNING: Install a new steering column shaft bolt. Reuse could result in bolt failure and loss of vehicle control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).

      Install a new steering column shaft bolt.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  15. Remove the holding device from the steering wheel.

  16. Tighten the LH engine mount-to-frame bolts.

    Torque: 129 lb.ft (175 Nm)

  17. NOTE: Only use hand tools when loosening or tightening the engine mount through bolts or damage to the engine mount-to-cylinder block bracket can occur.

    Install the new LH engine mount through bolt.

    Torque: 258 lb.ft (350 Nm)

    • Apply threadlock to the stud threads prior to installation.

      Material: Motorcraft® Threadlock 262 / TA-26 (WSK-M2G351-A6)

    • NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the engine mount studs or damage to the engine mount can occur.

      Install the engine mount studs.

      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  18. NOTE: Only use hand tools when installing the engine mount nuts or damage to the engine mount can occur.

    Install the new RH engine mount nuts.

    Torque: 111 lb.ft (150 Nm)

    • Remove and discard the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.

    • Install new transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.

      Torque: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)

  19. Install the new RH catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold nuts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    • Position the exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe and install the bolts.

    • Tighten the inner exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe bolt.

      Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    • Tighten the outer exhaust Y-pipe dual catalytic converter-to-exhaust intermediate pipe bolt.

      Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  21. Install the front driveshaft. Refer to: Front Driveshaft .
  22. Install the LH heat shield and the bolts.

    Torque: 177 lb.in (20 Nm)

  23. If equipped, install the skid plate and the bolts.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

  25. If equipped, install the transmission housing cover and the bolts

  26. Start and check the exhaust system for leaks.
