Pinpoint Test AF: P1A02

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    The PCM monitors the low one-way clutch application. The low one-way clutch locks to prevent sun gear 1 from rotating backward in gears 1A and 2A.

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    PCM P1A02:00 Transmission One Way Clutch Performance: No Sub Type Information This DTC indicates the low one-way clutch failed to engage gear 1A and/or 2A 3 times, allowing sun gear 1 to rotate backward. When this DTC sets the failsafe logic disables gears 1A and 2A.

    Possible Sources 

    • Low one-way clutch failure

  2. AF1 CHECK THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the PCM.

    • Road test the vehicle.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all continuous memory diagnostic trouble codes (CMDTCs) from the PCM.

    Is DTC P1A02 present in the PCM? 

    Yes  Check the low one-way clutch for a slipping condition. REFER to: Low One-Way Clutch Assembly .
    No  The fault is not present at this time and may be intermittent.
