Turbocharger LH: Removal
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
- If equipped, remove the engine rear undershield. Refer to: Engine Rear Undershield .
- If equipped, remove the bolts and the underbody skid plate.
- Remove the left front fender splash shield. Refer to: Fender Splash Shield .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe LH. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe LH .
- Remove the left charge air cooler intake pipe. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Intake Pipe .
- Remove the catalytic converter LH. Refer to: Catalytic Converter LH .
- Remove the turbocharger coolant return tube bolt, loosen the spring clamp, then disconnect and remove the turbocharger coolant return tube. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

NOTE: Do not use a metal brush, damage to sealing area will result in leaks.
Inspect the turbocharger tube and the sealing surfaces. Ensure that the retaining bracket is not bent, check for square-ness of the retaining bracket to the O-ring area. Use brake cleaner and a nylon brush to clean. Install new components as needed.

- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

- Detach the wire harness retainer, then disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the air tube bracket retainers, then remove the air tube bracket.
- Remove the EGR tube retainers, then remove the EGR tube.
- Remove and discard the EGR tube gaskets.
- Remove the turbocharger oil supply tube bolts, then remove the turbocharger oil supply tube.

Inspect the turbocharger tube and the sealing surfaces. Ensure that the retaining bracket is not bent, check for square-ness of the retaining bracket to the O-ring area. Use brake cleaner and a nylon brush to clean. Install new components as needed.

- Remove and discard the O-ring seals and the turbocharger oil supply tube oil filter.

- Remove the turbocharger oil return tube bolts, then remove the tube.

NOTE: Do not use a metal brush, damage to sealing area will result in leaks.
Inspect for blockage in the turbocharger tube. Check the tube, the sealing surfaces and the flange for flatness and damage. Use brake cleaner and a nylon brush to clean. Install new components as needed.

- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

- Remove and discard the oil return tube tube-to-engine block gasket.
- Remove the turbocharger coolant supply tube bolt, disengage the tube from the engine block.

- Remove the turbocharger coolant supply tube from the engine block while removing the turbocharger.
- Remove the turbocharger retainers, then remove the turbocharger.

Inspect the turbocharger tube and the sealing surfaces. Ensure that the retaining bracket is not bent, check for square-ness of the retaining bracket to the O-ring area. Use brake cleaner and a nylon brush to clean. Install new components as needed.

- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

- Remove and discard the turbocharger gasket.
- Remove the turbocharger mounting studs if needed.
- If needed remove the bolt, then remove the turbocharger coolant supply tube.

Inspect the turbocharger tube and the sealing surfaces. Ensure that the retaining bracket is not bent, check for square-ness of the retaining bracket to the O-ring area. Use brake cleaner and a nylon brush to clean. Install new components as needed.

- If the turbocharger coolant supply tube was removed from the turbocharger, then remove and discard the O-ring seal.
