Valve Cover RH: Removal

NOTE:
During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
- Remove the following items:
- Intake manifold. Refer to: Intake Manifold .
- Right hand CAC intake pipe. Refer to: Charge Air Cooler (CAC) Intake Pipe .
- Right hand ignition coil-on-plugs. Refer to: Ignition Coil-On-Plug .
- Remove the nuts and position the bracket and heater hose aside.
Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)

- Disconnect the wastegate control actuator and oil pressure sensor electrical connectors.
- Detach the retainers and position the engine wiring harness aside.
- Detach the retainer and position the transmission control wiring harness aside.

- Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors.
- Detach the retainers and position the engine wiring harness aside.
- Loosen the fasteners and remove the valve cover.

- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Clean the valve cover gasket groove with soap and water or a suitable solvent.
- Inspect the spark plug seals. Remove any damaged seals using the special tools. Use Special Service Tool: 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle., 303-1247 VCT Spark Plug Tube Seal Remover and Installer.
- Clean and prepare the RTV sealing surface. Refer to: RTV Sealing Surface Cleaning and Preparation .
