Climate Control Housing: Removal

NOTE: During the removal of components, cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination. Remove protective materials prior to installation.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to the appropriate Recovery procedure in the appropriate Climate Control System article.
  2. Disconnect the PCM electrical connectors, harness connectors, and detach the wiring harness retainers. Remove the nuts and the ground wiring harnesses and position aside the wiring harness.

    Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

  3. Clamp and disconnect the heater hoses.

  4. NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

    1. NOTE: Make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system.

      Remove the thermostatic expansion valve manifold and tube assembly nut, postion the tube assembly rearward and discard the gasket seals.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    2. Remove the nut and washer.

      Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  5. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to: Instrument Panel .
    • Disconnect the blower motor control module electrical connector, detach the wiring harness retainers.

    • Detach the retainer, position aside the antenna cable wire harness.

  6. Remove the nuts and washers.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  7. NOTE: For vehicles equipped with a rear footwell duct, the climate control housing must be carefully detached from the dash panel and then tilted toward the rear of the vehicle to detach it from the rear footwell duct connection.

    Remove the climate control housing.
