Steering Column Upper Shaft: Installation

Install the steering column upper shaft.

WARNING: Do not reuse steering column shaft bolts. This may result in fastener failure and steering column shaft detachment or loss of steering control. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury to vehicle occupant(s).

Disconnect the steering column upper shaft from the steering column.
1. Connect the steering column upper shaft to the steering column.
2. Install the new bolt.
  Torque
  
  : 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

Install the steering column opening seal and install the new retainers.
Torque

: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)

Disconnect the steering column upper shaft from the steering column lower shaft.
1. Connect the steering column upper shaft to the steering column lower shaft.
2. Install the new bolt.

  : 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)
