Auxiliary Battery: Removal

NOTE: If equipped, vehicles with an auxiliary battery(ies) must be disconnected in addition to the main 12 volt battery to remove the 12 voltage from the vehicle or vehicle damage may occur.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

All vehicles 

  1. Disconnect the batteries. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

    Hybrid Vehicles with auxiliary battery

    1. Remove the bolt and position the hold-down strap aside.

      Torque

      : 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    Non-Hybrid vehicles with auxiliary batteries with a 110-120v 2kw to 2.4kw pickup bed power outlet 

    1. Disconnect the vent hose and remove the auxiliary battery.

  4. Position the terminal covers aside.

  5. Remove the bolts and the auxiliary battery cable.

    Torque

    : 55 lb.in (6.2 Nm)

  6. Remove the bolts and position the hold-down straps aside.

    Torque

    : 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  7. Disconnect the vent hose and remove the auxiliary batteries.
