Pinpoint Test H: The PTBA (Pro Trailer Backup Assist) System Goes Directly Into Large Turn Without The Knob Being Turned

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

Possible Sources
- The wrong trailer in the trailer selection menu
- PTBA trailer target sticker concern
- Sticky or defective PTBA control knob
- Trailer yaw rate sensor installation concern

H1 VERIFY THE TRAILER SELECTED IN AUDIO SYSTEM DISPLAY IS THE SAME AS THE ONE BEING USED
- Verify that the correct trailer is selected.
Is the correct trailer selected in the audio system display?

Yes GO to H2

No The correct trailer needs to be selected.

H2 VERIFY THAT THE TRAILER IS SET UP CORRECTLY

NOTE: The trailer yaw rate sensor needs to be calibrated, if the sensor needs to be moved or installed correctly. REFER to the Owner's Literature.
- Verify that the trailer is set up correctly and the trailer yaw rate sensor is installed correctly.
Is the trailer set up correctly and the sensor installed correctly?

Yes GO to H3

No Carry out the trailer yaw rate sensor setup. REFER to the Owner's Literature.

H3 CHECK FOR CORRECT PRO TRAILER BACK UP ASSIST CONTROL KNOB OPERATION

Ignition OFF.

Disconnect and inspect the pro trailer back up assist control knob connector.

Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

Reconnect the pro trailer back up assist control knob connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.

Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes

CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new pro trailer back up assist control knob connector. REFER to: Pro Trailer Backup Assist Control Knob .

No	The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
