Pinpoint Test G: B13F3:96, B13F4:96

  1. NOTE: Before disconnecting any of the active park assist sensors, verify the connectors are properly seated and latched.

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    REFER to: Parking Aid - System Operation and Component Description .

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    IPMA B13F3:96 Left Rear Side Sensor: Component Internal Failure A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets in the IPMA when the left rear active park assist sensor has internally failed or has an incorrect attenuation time.
    IPMA B13F4:96 Right Rear Side Sensor: Component Internal Failure A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets in the IPMA when the right rear active park assist sensor has internally failed or has an incorrect attenuation time.

    Possible Sources 

    • Rear active park assist sensor
    • IPMA

  2. G1 CHECK THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND IPMA (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the IPMA Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) other than DTC B13F3:96 or DTC B13F4:96 present? 

    Yes  DIAGNOSE all other IPMA Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) first. REFER to the appropriate DTC chart.
    No  GO to  G2
  3. G2 CHECK THE REAR ACTIVE PARK ASSIST SENSOR OPERATION

    • Clean the rear bumper and sensors with high-pressure water.

    • Make sure the suspect rear active park assist sensor(s) is flush-mounted in the bezel.

    Does the system pass the azimuth system check? 

    Yes  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a dirty, blocked or incorrectly mounted rear active park assist sensor.
    No  GO to  G3
  4. G3 INSTALL A KNOWN GOOD SENSOR

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the IPMA Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and repeat the self-test.

    Is DTC B13F3:96 or DTC B13F4:96 still present? 

    Yes  GO to  G4
    No  INSTALL a new rear active park assist sensor for the suspect sensor. REFER to: Rear Active Park Assist Sensors .
  5. G4 CHECK FOR CORRECT IPMA (IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE A) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect all IPMA connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the IPMA connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new IPMA. REFER to: Image Processing Module A (IPMA) .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
