Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The CMP sensor is a Hall effect sensor that detects the position of the camshaft. The CMP sensor identifies when piston number 1 is on its compression stroke. The PCM calculates the CMP signal and the CKP sensor signal to determine the camshaft to crankshaft position for correct fuel injection timing during the compression stroke.
