Pinpoint Test Ck: The Perimeter Alarm Chime Is Inoperative

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Perimeter Alarm Warning Chime. REFER to: Warning Chimes - System Operation and Component Description .

    Possible Sources 

    • Perimeter alarm concern
    • BCM
    • GWM
    • IPC

  2. CK1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition switch is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  CK2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test CA 
  3. CK2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE PERIMETER ALARM

    • Arm the perimeter alarm using the remote key locking feature (key fob).

    • Wait approximately 15 seconds for the system to arm.

    • Open the driver door using the interior door handle.

    Does the perimeter alarm sound after 12 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  CK3
    No  REFER to: Perimeter Anti-Theft Alarm .
  4. CK3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the IPCDTC Chart.
    No  GO to  CK4
  5. CK4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network .
    No  DIAGNOSE all BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). REFER to the Master DTC Chart.
