Pinpoint Test Ah: The Hazard RTT (RECONFIGURABLE Telltale) Indicator Is Never Or Always On (HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle))

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Hazard (HEV). REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - System Operation and Component Description .

    If the HEV battery warning indicator request or the HEV transmission warning indicator request message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the IPC defaults the hazard RTT indicator to the last indication state (on or off), based upon the last message received.

    If the HEV battery warning indicator request or the HEV transmission warning indicator request message is missing for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults the hazard RTT indicator on.

    Possible Sources 

    • Communication concern
    • High voltage battery concern
    • BECM concern
    • SOBDMC concern
    • GWM
    • IPC

  2. AH1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION

    • Ignition ON.

    • Close all doors and the hood.

    • Clear all message center warnings by pressing the OK button for each warning present.

    • Monitor the door ajar RTT warning indicator.

    • Open the driver door.

    • Clear the message center popup warning.

    • Monitor the door ajar RTT warning indicator.

    Is the door ajar RTT warning indicator off with the door closed, and on with the door open? 

    Yes  GO to  AH2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test A 

  3. AH2 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the IPCDTC Chart.
    No  GO to  AH3

  4. AH3 PERFORM THE BECM (BATTERY ENERGY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BECM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: High Voltage Battery, Mounting and Cables .
    No  GO to  AH4

  5. AH4 PERFORM THE SOBDMC (SECONDARY ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC CONTROL MODULE C) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the SOBDMC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the Master DTC Chart.
    No  GO to  AH5

  6. AH5 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network .
    No  If the hazard RTT indicator is never on, the system is operating correctly at this time. There are currently no vehicle concerns present that require the hazard RTT indicator. If the hazard RTT indiator is always on, DIAGNOSE a BECM concern or a SOBDMC concern.
