Pinpoint Test Aa: The Door Ajar, Hood Ajar Or Tailgate Ajar Warning Indicator Is Never Or Always On

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
See Door Ajar, Hood Ajar or Tailgate RTT Indicator. REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - System Operation and Component Description .

If the driver door ajar, passenger door ajar, left rear door ajar, right rear door ajar, hood ajar or tailgate ajar status message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the IPC defaults the door ajar warning indicator or the appropriate ajar RTT indicator to the last indication state (on or off), based upon the last message received.

If the driver door ajar, passenger door ajar, left rear door ajar, right rear door ajar, hood ajar or tailgate ajar status message is missing for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults the door ajar warning indicator or the appropriate ajar RTT indicator off.

AA1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION
- Ignition ON.
- Clear all message center warnings by pressing the OK button for each warning present.
- Monitor the charging system warning RTT indicator.
- Start the engine.
- Monitor the charging system warning RTT indicator.
Does the charging system warning RTT indicator turn on with the KOEO and turn off with the KOER?

Yes GO to AA2

No GO to Pinpoint Test A

AA2 CHECK THE INTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
- Open and close each door while monitoring the interior lamps.
Do the interior lamps operate correctly with each door?

Yes GO to AA3

No REFER to: Interior Lighting .

AA3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes REFER to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart .

No GO to AA4

AA4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network .

No GO to AA5

AA5 PERFORM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes	For DTC B1178:01, GO to AA6 For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to the Master DTC Chart.

For a door ajar indication concern, GO to AA11 For a hood ajar indication concern, DIAGNOSE the perimeter alarm doesn't arm from the hood (inoperative condition) or DIAGNOSE any hood ajar switch related BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) (always on condition). REFER to: Perimeter Anti-Theft Alarm . If the tailgate ajar indication is never on, GO to AA9

AA6 CHECK THE POWER TAILGATE AJAR INPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN AT THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE)

Ignition OFF.

Disconnect BCM C2280E.

Disconnect Tailgate Cinch Latch C4627.

Measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

Yes	GO to AA11

GO to AA7

AA7 BYPASS THE TAILGATE AJAR INPUT AT THE TAILGATE CINCH LATCH AND CHECK FOR OPEN AT THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE)

Connect a fused jumper wire:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

Yes	REMOVE the fused jumper wire. GO to AA8

No	REMOVE the fused jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit.

AA8 CHECK THE TAILGATE CINCH LATCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

Yes	INSTALL a new tailgate module.

No	REPAIR the circuit.

AA9 CHECK THE TAILGATE AJAR INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND AT THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE)

Ignition OFF.

Disconnect BCM C2280E.

Disconnect Tailgate Module C4623.

Disconnect Tailgate Cinch Latch C4627.

Open the tailgate.

Measure:

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?

Yes	GO to AA10

No	GO to AA11

AA10 CHECK THE TAILGATE AJAR INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND AT THE BCM WITH THE TAILGATE LATCH OR POWER TAILGATE MODULE DISCONNECTED

Is the resistance greater then 10, 000 ohms?

Yes	INSTALL a new tailgate cinch latch.

No	REPAIR the circuit.

AA11 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION

Ignition OFF.

Disconnect and inspect the BCM connectors.

Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

Reconnect the BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes	CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) .

No	The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
