Rear Door Latch - SuperCrew: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the rear door trim panel. Refer to: Rear Door Trim Panel - SuperCrew .
  2. Remove the exterior rear door handle. Refer to: Exterior Rear Door Handle - SuperCrew .
  3. Remove the watershield.

  4. Remove the rear door window regulator adhesive cover.

  5. Position the rear door window regulator aside.

    1. Tape the rear door window glass in place.
    2. Remove the window regulator nuts.

      Torque

      : 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

    3. Release the aft retaining clip from rear door window glass. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
    4. Position the rear door window regulator aside.

  6. Remove the bolts from the aft rear door glass run and bracket.

    Torque

    : 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)

  7. Remove the screw from the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.

    Torque

    : 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  8. Remove the rear door latch bolts.

    Torque

    : 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

  9. NOTE: The rear door is shown in illustration, transparent for clarity.

    Remove the rear door latch.

    1. Disconnect the wiring harness routing clip.
    2. Route the interior rear door handle and lock indicator cable through the inner door.
    3. Disconnect the rear door latch electrical connector.
    4. Remove the rear door latch.

  10. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Release the cable tension by turning the release screw until the handle lever releases from the stop.

    1. Turn the release screw until the handle lever releases from the stop.
    2. Release the handle lever from the stop.

  11. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.

    1. Press the locking tab down and detach the exterior rear door handle reinforcement.
    2. Remove the cable from the routing clip.
    3. Remove the cable from the routing clip.
    4. Detach the cable from the exterior rear door handle reinforcement mounting bracket.
    5. Remove the cable eyelet from the lever.

  12. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the interior rear door handle cable and rear door latch lock indicator cable.

    1. Remove the screw, the rear door latch lock indicator cable and the interior rear door handle cable access cover.
    2. Remove the rear door latch lock indicator cable.
    3. Remove the interior rear door handle cable.

  13. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the aft rear door glass run and bracket.

    1. Release the retaining tab on the aft rear door glass run and bracket.
    2. Remove the aft rear door glass run and bracket.

  14. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the exterior rear door handle reinforcement to rear door latch cable.

    1. Remove the exterior rear door handle reinforcement to rear door latch cable screw.
    2. Remove the exterior rear door handle reinforcement to rear door latch cable access cover.
    3. Remove the exterior rear door handle reinforcement to rear door latch cable from the mounting bracket.
    4. Remove the exterior rear door handle reinforcement to rear door latch cable end.
