Front Door Latch: Removal

NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
- Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to: Front Door Trim Panel .
- Remove the exterior front door handle. Refer to: Exterior Front Door Handle .
- If equipped. Remove the front door lock cylinder. Refer to: Door Lock Cylinder .
- Remove the front door watershield.
- Remove the front door window regulator adhesive cover.
- Position the front door window regulator aside.
- Tape the front door window glass in place.
- Remove the window regulator nuts.
Torque
: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)
- Release the aft retaining clip from front door window glass. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
- Position the front door window regulator aside.
- Remove the screw from the exterior front door handle reinforcement.
Torque
: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)
- Remove the front door latch bolts.
Torque
: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

Remove the front door latch.
- Remove the front door glass run and bracket bolts.
Torque
: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)
- Remove the interior front door handle cable routing bracket bolt.
Torque
: 22 lb.in (2.5 Nm)
- Route the interior front door handle and lock indicator cable through the inner door.
- Disconnect the front door latch electrical connectors.
- Remove the front door latch.
- Remove the front door glass run and bracket bolts.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Release the cable tension by turning the release screw until the handle lever releases from the stop.
- Turn the release screw until the handle lever releases from the stop.
- Release the handle lever from the stop.

Remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement.
- Press the locking tab down and detach the exterior front door handle reinforcement.
- If equipped. Disconnect the door lock cylinder rod.
- Remove the cable from the routing clips.
- Detach the cable from the exterior front door handle reinforcement mounting bracket.
- Remove the cable eyelet from the lever.

Remove the front door glass run and bracket.
- Release the retaining tab on the front door glass run and bracket.
- Remove the front door glass run and bracket.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Remove the interior front door handle cable and front door latch lock indicator cable.
- Remove the screw, the front door latch lock indicator cable and interior front door handle cable access cover.
- Remove the front door latch lock indicator cable.
- Remove the interior front door handle cable.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
If equipped. Remove the front door latch lock cylinder control rod.

Remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement to front door latch cable.
- Remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement to front door latch cable access cover screw.
- Remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement to front door latch cable access cover.
- Remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement to front door latch cable from the mounting bracket.
- Remove the exterior front door handle reinforcement to front door latch cable end.
