Pinpoint Test AE: U3003:16

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition DDM U3003:16 Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Below Threshold Set by the DDM when the supply voltage falls below 10 volts for at least 10 seconds during normal operation or for more than 250 milliseconds during the self-test PDM U3003:16 Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Below Threshold Set by the PDM when the supply voltage falls below 10 volts for at least 10 seconds during normal operation or for more than 250 milliseconds during the self-test Possible Sources
- Previous low battery voltage
- Wiring, terminals, or connectors
- DDM
- PDM
- Low vehicle battery state of charge
- NOTE: Low vehicle battery state of charge will disable the passive entry feature from all the doors except the driver's door.
- AE1 RECHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) U3003:16
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) for the module in question.
- Wait at least 15 seconds.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, repeat the self-test for the module in question.
Is DTC U3003:16 still present?
Yes GO to AE2 No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to a previous low battery voltage condition. - AE2 CHECK FOR CHARGING SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) IN THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM self-test.
Are any voltage-related Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) set in the PCM?
Yes DIAGNOSE the charging system concern. REFER to: Charging System - 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS)/3.5L EcoBoost (BM) . REFER to: Charging System - 3.3L Duratec-V6/5.0L 32V Ti-VCT . REFER to: Charging System - 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel . No GO to AE3 - AE3 CHECK THE BATTERY CONDITION AND STATE OF CHARGE
- Check the battery condition and verify that the battery is fully charged. REFER to: Battery . See: Battery Condition Test.
Is the battery OK and fully charged?
Yes GO to AE4 No REFER to: Battery . - AE4 CHECK THE SUSPECT MODULE VOLTAGE SUPPLY
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure and record the voltage at the battery.
- Disconnect the door module setting DTC U3003:16.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between the module setting DTC U3003:16 and ground.
- For the DDM/ PDM, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C501A-1, DDM Ground Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C652A-1, PDM Ground
Is the voltage within 0.2 volts of the recorded battery voltage?
Yes GO to AE5 No REPAIR the circuit for high resistance. - AE5 CHECK THE SUSPECT MODULE GROUND CIRCUIT
- Measure the voltage at the suspect module.
- For the DDM/ PDM, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C501A-1, DDM C501A-2, DDM Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C652A-1, PDM C652A-2, PDM
Is the DDM/ PDM voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to AE6 No REPAIR the circuit in question. - AE6 CHECK FOR CORRECT DDM (DRIVER DOOR MODULE) / PDM (PASSENGER DOOR MODULE) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the suspect door module connector.
- Repair:
- Corrosion (clean module pins or install new connectors or terminals)
- Damaged or bent pins (install new terminals or pins)
- Pushed-out pins (install new pins as necessary)
- Reconnect the suspect door module connector. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM, or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new DDM/ PDM. REFER to: Driver Door Module (DDM) . REFER to: Passenger Door Module (PDM) . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
