Front Seat Track Motor: Installation

All seats 

  1. Install the front seat track light.

  2. NOTE: Typical front seat track shown, other front seat tracks similar.
    NOTE: Use the bolts from the old front seat track motor.
    NOTE: Front seat side shield removed for clarity.

    Install the front seat track motor bolts.

    Torque

    : 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

  3. NOTE: When using a drill to move the seat track, do not move the front seat track to its forward or rearward end of travel stops, otherwise a new front seat track must be installed.
    NOTE: Typical front seat track shown, other front seat tracks similar.
    NOTE: Be sure to drive the front seat track evenly or the track will bind during movement.
    NOTE: Rotate the cables using 2 drills operating at similar speeds to most efficiently position the front seat track.

    Insert the original front seat track motor drive cables and drive the gearbox and the front seat track uniformly until the front edge of the upper and lower front seat tracks are flush. Use the General Equipment: Electric Drill

    The front edges of the upper and lower front seat track rails must align with each other on both sides of the front seat  .

    On both sides, remove the front seat track motor bolts.

    NOTE: Install a new front seat track if the block is not in place.

    Verify the block is in place at the rear of the inboard front seat track rail.

    To aid installation, pull the long drive cable on the new motor assembly out of the sheathing.

    Position the front seat track motor and bracket assembly while inserting the long cable into the seat track gearbox.

    Rotate the long drive cable to verify engagement to front seat track gearbox.

  10. NOTE: Do not severely bend the short drive cable during installation or damage to the cable will occur.
    NOTE: Typical front seat track shown, other front seat tracks similar.

    Insert the short drive cable into the front seat track gearbox.

    1. Position the front seat track motor while inserting the short cable into the front seat track gearbox.
    2. Rotate the short drive cable to verify engagement to front seat track gearbox.

  11. NOTE: Do not cross-thread the bolts as they are load bearing. If the bolts are cross-threaded, a new front seat track must be installed.
    NOTE: Front seat track components and wiring harness are removed for clarity.

    Install the seat track motor and install the new bolts in the sequence shown.

    1. Install the rear inboard bolt.

      Torque

      : 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

    2. Install the front inboard bolt.

      Torque

      : 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

    3. Install the rear outboard bolt.

      Torque

      : 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

    4. Install the front outboard bolt.

      Torque

      : 21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

  12. NOTE: Front seat track components are removed for clarity.

    Connect the front seat track motor electrical connector, the front seatbelt buckle electrical connector, the front seat track light electrical connector and attach the front seat wiring harness retainers to the front seat track motor carrier.

  13. Attach the seat position sensor wiring harness retainer and front seat connector(s) to the front seat track motor carrier.

  14. Connect the front seat wiring harness electrical connector(s).

    1. Connect the electrical connector.
    2. Connect the electrical connector.
    3. Attach the wiring harness retainer.

  15. Repower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Repowering .

  16. Operate the front seat track horizontal motor in all directions through the full range of travel to set soft stops and avoid a premature stopping point occurrence after the vehicle is returned to the customer.
