Front Seat Power Lumbar Assembly - Vehicles With: Max Recline Seats Multi-Contour Seats: Removal

NOTE: Driver seat shown, passenger seat similar.
NOTE: The front seat backrest SCMG (driver multi-contour seat module) is part of the front seat power lumbar assembly and is serviced as an assembly.
  1. Position the front seat to access the front seat wiring harnesses.

  2. NOTE: This step is necessary only when installing a new component.
    NOTE: The PMI (programmable module installation) process must begin with the current SCMG (driver multi-contour seat module) installed. If the current SCMG (driver multi-contour seat module)/SCMH (passenger multi-contour seat module) does not respond to the diagnostic scan tool, the tool may prompt for As-Built Data as part of the repair.

    Using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI process for the SCMG following the on-screen instructions.

  3. Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering .
  4. NOTE: Note routing of the multi-contour control pump hoses for installation.

    Disconnect the front seat backrest driver seat SCMG (driver multi-contour seat module)/passenger seat SCMH (passenger multi-contour seat module) hose.

    1. Compress/squeeze the hose end fitting.
    2. Disconnect the hose.

  5. Detach the front seat electrical connector retainers and position the front seat wiring harnesses aside.

  6. Detach the front seat backrest cover straps and position the front seat backrest cover aside.

  7. Detach the front seat backrest cover lower J-clip.

  8. NOTE: To install, gradually alternate the left and right front seat backrest cover zippers to prevent damage to the seat backrest cover.

    1. Unzip the front seat backrest cover.
    2. Lift the front seat backrest cover back flap.
    3. Detach the front seat backrest cover retainers from the front seat backrest frame.

    1. Disconnect the front seat upper backrest and front seat backrest heater mat electrical connectors.
    2. Detach the front seat backrest wiring harness retainers.
    3. Detach the front seat backrest heater mat wiring harness retainers.

  9. Disconnect the front seat backrest SCMG electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainers.

  10. Remove the front seat power lumbar assembly.

    1. Detach the front seat backrest SCMG hose retainer.
    2. Release the upper J-hooks.
    3. Detach the lower retainer.
