Front Seat Backrest Cover - Vehicles With: Max Recline Seats: Removal

WARNING:
Front seat backrest trim covers installed on seats equipped with seat side airbags cannot be repaired. A new trim cover must be installed. Cleaning is permissible. Failure to follow these instructions may result in the seat side airbag deploying incorrectly and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
NOTE:
Driver seat shown, passenger seat similar.
- Remove the side airbag. Refer to: Side Airbag .
- Route the front seat backrest wiring harnesses through the front seat backrest cover.
- Detach the front seat backrest cover upper J-clip.
- Remove the front seat upper backrest cover. Refer to: Front Seat Upper Backrest Cover - Vehicles With: Max Recline Seats .
- Remove the front head restraint guide sleeves. Refer to: Front Head Restraint Guide Sleeve .
With multi-contour seats

- Disconnect the front seat backrest heater mat electrical connector.
- Detach the front seat backrest wiring harness retainer.
- Detach the front seat backrest heater mat wiring harness retainer.
Without multi-contour seats

- Disconnect the front seat backrest heater mat electrical connector.
- Detach the front seat backrest heater mat wiring harness retainer.
- Detach the front seat backrest heater mat wiring harness retainer.
All seats
- Remove the front seat backrest cover and foam as an assembly.

NOTE: This step is necessary only when installing a new component.
Remove the front seat backrest cover.
- Invert the front seat backrest cover.
- Release the retainer.

NOTE: Use care when separating the front seat backrest cover from the hook-and-loop strips, or the hook-and-loop strips can be torn from the front seat backrest foam.
Release the front seat backrest hook-and-loop strip.
