Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The SCMH communicates to the OCSM using the CAN. REFER to: Front Seats - System Operation and Component Description .
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition SCMH U0455:00 Invalid Data Received From Restraints Occupant Classification System Module "A": No Sub Type Information Set by the SCMH whenever it has received an invalid status from the OCSM. Possible Sources
- Module communication
- SCMH
- OCSM
- AQ1 VERIFY CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
Yes GO to AQ2 No The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or intermittent fault condition. - AQ2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the network test.
Does the OCSM pass the network test?
Yes GO to AQ3 No REFER to: Front Seats - System Operation and Component Description . - AQ3 RECHECK THE SCMH (PASSENGER MULTI-CONTOUR SEAT MODULE) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during PMI or the PMI may not have been carried out.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, repeat the SCMH self-test.
Is DTC U0455:00 still present?
Yes GO to AQ4 No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or intermittent fault condition. - AQ4 CHECK FOR DTC U0455:00 IN OTHER MODULESNOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during PMI or the PMI may not have been carried out.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs) from all modules.
Is DTC U0455:00 set in other modules?
Yes INSTALL a new OCSM. REFER to: Occupant Classification System (OCS) Sensor - Vehicles With: Multi-Contour Seats . No INSTALL a new SCMH. REFER to: Driver Multi-Contour Seat Module [SCMG] .
