DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition ATCM U0140:00 Lost Communication With Body Control Module: No Sub Type Information Sets in continuous memory in the ATCM if data messages received from the BCM through the GWM are missing for 5 seconds or longer. Possible Sources
- BCM
- Battery voltage concern
- HS-CAN2
- NOTE: 4X4 High and 4X4 Low are not intended for driving on hard/dry surfaces. Using these modes while driving on these surfaces may produce noises like intermittent clunking but does not damage driveline components.
- V1 L1 CHECK FOR LOST COMMUNICATION DTC IN OTHER MODULES
- Enter the following diagnostic mode: Run ALL CMDTC.
Do any other modules on the vehicle also have Lost Communication DTC with the suspect module?
Yes REFER to: Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network . No GO to V2 - V2 REVIEW CMDTC FOR LOW VOLTAGE DTC
- Review all module for CMDTC low voltage codes.
Do any modules have low voltage DTC set?
Yes Resolve all vehicle voltage concerns. REFER to: Charging System - 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS)/3.5L EcoBoost (BM) . REFER to: Charging System - 3.3L Duratec-V6/5.0L 32V Ti-VCT . REFER to: Charging System - 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel . No GO to V3 - V3 INSPECT HS-CAN2 CONNECTORS
- Refer to Wiring Diagrams Two Wheel Drive/Four Wheel Drive Systems for schematic and connector information.
- DISCONNECT and INSPECT the HS-CAN2 connectors between the ATCM and BCM.
- Check for the following:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins).
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins.
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary.
- Connect all connectors. Make sure each connector seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Are any DTCs recorded?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSB. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSB address this concern, INSTALL a BCM. No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
