Axle Carrier Bushing: Removal

NOTE:
Only worn or damaged bushings need to be replaced.
- Remove the axle assembly. Refer to: Axle Assembly .
- Measure and record the width of the gap between the bushing front lip and the housing.
- Using the special tools, remove the axle tube bushing. Use Special Service Tool: 205-371 (T96T-5638-E) Remover, Front Axle Mounting Bushing Cup., 205-374 (T96T-5638-H) Installer, Front Axle Mounting Bushing Drawbolt., 205-527 Remover/Installer, Front Differential Housing Bushing.
- Using the special tools, remove the rear housing bushing. Use Special Service Tool: 204-186 (T95T-5638-AH) Remover, Front Differential Housing Bushing., 205-371 (T96T-5638-E) Remover, Front Axle Mounting Bushing Cup., 205-374 (T96T-5638-H) Installer, Front Axle Mounting Bushing Drawbolt., 205-527 Remover/Installer, Front Differential Housing Bushing.

NOTE: The drive pinion flange only needs to be removed if the front housing bushing is being removed.
Remove the drive pinion flange. Refer to: Drive Pinion Flange and Seal .
- Using the special tools, remove the front housing bushing. Use Special Service Tool: 205-371 (T96T-5638-E) Remover, Front Axle Mounting Bushing Cup., 205-374 (T96T-5638-H) Installer, Front Axle Mounting Bushing Drawbolt., 205-527 Remover/Installer, Front Differential Housing Bushing.
