Differential Housing Cover: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Separate the ABS harness fasteners from the differential housing cover stud bolts.

- Remove the differential housing cover stud bolts and differential housing cover bolts.
- Remove the differential housing cover.
- Remove and discard the differential housing metal backed gasket.

NOTE: Remove the metal backed gasket and make sure the surfaces are free of oil.
Clean the gasket mating surface of the axle and the differential housing cover. Refer to: RTV Sealing Surface Cleaning and Preparation .
