Tailgate Lock Cylinder: Removal

NOTE: Repair the tailgate lock cylinder by discarding the inoperative tailgate lock cylinder and building a new tailgate lock cylinder using the appropriate lock repair service kit. The lock repair service kit includes a detailed instruction sheet to build the new lock to match the key cut pattern for the vehicle, thus allowing for single point replacement without needing to replace or reprogram other locks or keys.

Remove the tailgate release handle. REFER to: Tailgate Release Handle .
NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

Remove the tailgate lock cylinder.
1. Remove the tailgate lock cylinder nut.
  Torque: 28 lb.in (3.2 Nm)
2. Remove the tailgate lock cylinder.
