Tailgate Latch: Removal

Open the tailgate.

Remove the tailgate latch bolts and discard upper tailgate latch bolt.
Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

If equipped. Remove the bedliner tailgate cover.
Torque: 28 lb.in (3.2 Nm)

Remove the tailgate access panel bolts and the tailgate access panel.
Torque: 28 lb.in (3.2 Nm)

Remove the tailgate latch.
1. Disconnect the tailgate latch actuating rod from the tailgate latch control assembly.
2. Position the latch assembly toward the tailgate latch control assembly.
3. Remove the tailgate latch.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
