Rear Door Latch - Crew Cab: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Remove the exterior rear door handle. REFER to: Exterior Rear Door Handle - Crew Cab .

    Vehicles with power windows 

  2. Remove the rear door window control switch. REFER to: Rear Door Window Control Switch - Crew Cab, Vehicles With: Rear Power Windows .
  3. Lower the rear door window glass to the half down position.

    1. Install the rear door window control switch.
    2. Lower the rear door window glass to the half down position.
    3. Remove the rear door window control switch.

    Vehicles with manual windows 

  4. Lower the rear door window glass to the half down position.

    1. Partially install the rear door window regulator handle.
    2. Lower the rear door window glass to the half down position.
    3. Remove the rear door window regulator handle.

    All vehicles 

  5. Release the rear retaining clip from rear door window glass.

    1. Release the retaining clip from rear door window glass. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
    2. Raise rear door window glass enough to release the rear door window glass from the retaining clip.

  6. Position the rear door window regulator aside.

    1. Remove the window regulator nuts.

      Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)

    2. Position the rear door window regulator aside.

  7. Remove the rear door latch bolts.

    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

  8. NOTE: The rear door window glass shown in the full up position for clarity.

    Remove the rear door window run bolt.

    Torque: 55 lb.in (6.2 Nm)

    Remove the rear door latch.

    1. Route the lock rod through the inner door.
    2. Route the cable through the inner door.
    3. If equipped. Disconnect the power door lock actuator electrical connector.
    4. Disconnect the door ajar switch electrical connector.
    5. Remove the rear door latch.

  10. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the rear door latch from the aft rear door glass run and bracket.

    1. Remove the screws from the rear door latch.
    2. Remove the rear door latch from the aft rear door glass run and bracket.
    3. If equipped. Remove the rear door latch rain shield from the aft rear door glass run and bracket.

  11. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.

    Remove the cables and lock rod.

    1. Remove the lock rod from the rear door latch.
    2. Detach the exterior door handle cable from the retaining bracket.
    3. Remove the exterior door handle cable from the rear door latch.
    4. Detach the interior door handle cable from the retaining bracket.
    5. Remove the interior door handle cable from the rear door latch.
