Front Door Latch: Removal

Vehicles with power windows
- Remove the front door window control switch. REFER to: Front Door Window Control Switch - Vehicles With: Front Power Windows .
- Remove the front door watershield.
- Lower the front door window glass to the one quarter down position.
- Connect the front door window control switch.
- Lower the front door window glass to the one quarter down position.
- Disconnect the front door window control switch.
Vehicles with manual windows
- Remove the front door trim panel. REFER to: Front Door Trim Panel .
- Remove the front door watershield.
- Lower the front door window glass to the one quarter down position.
- Partially install the window regulator handle.
- Lower the front door window glass to the one quarter down position.
- Remove the window regulator handle.
All vehicles
- Release the rear retaining clip from front door window glass.
- Release the retaining clip from front door window glass. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
- Raise front door window glass enough to release the front door window glass from the retaining clip.
- Remove the rear window regulator nut adhesive cover.
- Position the front door window regulator aside.
- Remove the window regulator nuts.
Torque: 93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)
- Position the front door window regulator aside.
- Remove the window regulator nuts.
- Remove the exterior front door handle. REFER to: Exterior Front Door Handle .

Remove the front door latch bolts.
Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

NOTE: The front door window glass shown in the full up position for clarity.
Remove the front door window run bolts.
Torque: 55 lb.in (6.2 Nm)

Remove the front door latch.
- Route the cable through the inner door.
- If equipped. Disconnect the power door lock actuator electrical connector.
- Route the lock rod through the inner door.
- Disconnect the door ajar switch electrical connector.
- Remove the front door latch.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Remove the front door latch and cables from the front door glass run and bracket.
- Remove the bolt from the exterior front door handle release cable retaining bracket.
- Remove the exterior front door handle release cable retaining bracket.
- Remove the bolt from the front door latch.
- Remove the front door latch from the front door glass run and bracket.
- Remove the front door latch rain shield from the front door glass run and bracket.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Remove the interior door handle release cable retaining bracket from the front door latch.
- Release the interior door handle release cable retaining bracket from the interior door handle release cable mounting bracket.
- Remove the interior door handle release cable retaining bracket from the interior door handle release cable.

NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Remove the cables and lock rod.
- Remove the lock rod from the latch.
- Detach the interior door handle cable from the retaining bracket.
- Remove the interior door handle cable from the latch.
- Detach the exterior door handle cable from the retaining bracket.
- Remove the exterior door handle cable from the latch.
