Selective Catalytic Reduction System Catalyst: Removal

WARNING: When the engine and exhaust system are hot, they can cause severe burns or injury. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before removing the exhaust system.

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

NOTE: Removal of sensors from the Selective Catalytic Reduction System Catalyst is only required if replacing the Selective Catalytic Reduction System Catalyst. If not replacing the Selective Catalytic Reduction System Catalyst, only disconnection of the sensors is required.

Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions .
With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
Remove Rear Muffler. Refer to: Rear Muffler .
Remove the Particulate Matter sensor from SCR. Refer to: Particulate Matter Sensor .
Remove the Engine NOx sensor from SCR. Refer to: Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) Sensor 12 .
Disconnect the exhaust temperature sensor electrical connector.

Disconnect and position aside the exhaust temperature sensor electrical connector.

Remove the bolts from the SCR catalyst isolator hanger.
Torque

: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

Remove the Reductant Injector from the SCR. Refer to: Reductant Injector .
1. Remove and discard the bolts and gasket.
  Torque
  
  : 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)
2. Remove the SCR assembly from the vehicle.

NOTE: This step is only required if you are replacing a new component.
- Remove the isolator hanger from SCR assembly.
- Remove the exhaust temperature sensors from SCR assembly.
  Torque
  
  : 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
