Pinpoint Test RA: Catalyst System
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Only use ultra low sulfur diesel fuel that is 20% or less biodiesel with this vehicle. Use of any other fuel type may damage the vehicle or cause an emission concern. Refer to the Owners Literature for more information.
NOTE:
Regeneration may occur during normal operation. During regeneration, diagnostic procedures may display biased values. If a regeneration occurs during diagnostic procedures, allow the process to complete before continuing diagnostics.
Refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - 3.0L DIESEL for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
Refer to the DTC Fault Trigger Conditions.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
| DTC | Description | Fault Trigger Condition |
|---|---|---|
| PCM P0420:00 | Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1): No Sub Type Information | Sets when the PCM detects the increase in temperature is less than 40% of the expected maximum increase. During a regeneration, the PCM expects the temperature across the open circuit to increase by a calibrated amount. Verify no concerns are present with the fuel system and exhaust gas temperature sensors. Monitor the EGT11 PID and the EGT12 PID to determine the temperature change across the open circuit. |
