Fuel Tank Filler Pipe: Removal

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Cables - 5.0L 32V Ti-VCT .
Remove the rear driveshaft. Refer to: Rear Driveshaft .
If equipped, remove the nuts and the skid plate.

Using a powertrain lift, support the fuel tank.
Use Special Service Tool: 300-OTC1585AE Powertrain Lift.
- Remove the bolts.
  Torque
  
  : 35 lb.ft (47 Nm)
- Remove the fuel tank straps.

Lower the tank to gain access to the fuel filler pipe hose and vapor tube quick release coupling.
Release the clamp and position the fuel filler pipe hose aside.
Torque

: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe vapor tube quick release coupling. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

Remove the bolt and the fuel tank filler pipe.
Torque

: 133 lb.in (15 Nm)
